Mission Statement
The school counseling program at Westdale Heights Academic Magnet (WHAM) is a data driven and comprehensive program that inspires excellence in every student. The program empowers students to succeed with a focus on academic achievement, career readiness, social/emotional intelligence and advocacy. Through partnerships with students, educators, parents, and community members, our students will be productive citizens who communicate effectively, think critically and take on challenges to excel the needs of the 21st century workforce and to compete in a global economy.

The vision of the school counseling program at WHAM is to prepare all students to excel as outstanding leaders, independent thinkers and high achievers. The program promotes the well-being of the whole child and students will acquire the academic knowledge and skills to be successful lifelong learners.
Philosophy and Beliefs
A professional school counselor provides a range of direct and indirect services to the school and community. School counselors are advocates who work to ensure all students are prepared with the skills necessary to contribute at the highest level as productive members of society. School counselors help students develop and apply skills needed to enhance personal, social, career and academic growth. A school counselor is the heart and best friend of the school.
